"Writing can be used as a vehicle to express ourselves as we negotiate the journey through our lives” (Gallagher, 2011: p. 24)

Canadian author L.M Montgomery says that “Looking forward to things is half the pleasure of them.” This must have been the thinking behind the question that ABC News posed on social media yesterday!

To follow on from this, what are YOU looking forward to the most when things get back to normal? What will it be like to experience the things that you miss most? What will you appreciate, anew? For inspiration, check out Georgia Heard’s beautiful poem ‘When Wishes Return’:

When Wishes Return

by Georgia Heard

Clouds still rise up from the West,

and graze over the ocean like wooly sheep.

Dawn still opens up like a flower

petal by petal holding

its outstretched palm towards day.

Let laughter return,

let birthday parties —

as friends gather around a frosted cake

blowing out candles making wishes

Let the moon paint

the stones silver on this rocky path.

Let the bright stars keep shimmering.

May the spaces between us be a bridge.

May our windswept hearts heal.
