QuickWrite of the Day #57: The Last Photo

My Thoughts.PNG

"Writing can be used as a vehicle to express ourselves as we negotiate the journey through our lives” (Gallagher, 2011: p. 24)

Today’s QuickWrite:

Look at the last photo that you took on your phone.  If you don’t want to use that, choose:

  • Any recent photo

  • The last photo of a significant year in your life (eg: 2019)

  • The last photo taken before Covid-19 affected our lives

Use this photo you have chosen as inspiration to write. You might want to write about:

  • The story behind the picture -who, what, when, where, why

  • What you were thinking or feeling at the time

  • What it makes you think or feel now

Have a look at the short example below:

I took this photo last night in the eerie hour before dusk. I’d been strolling along the Norfolk pines dotting the esplanade, when the hazy swirl of the sky and the rocky outreach caught my eye. It reminds me of a watercolour painting or something you’d see in a mystery or fantasy film, like a road to another world or dimension. I wonder what a character in one of those films would do if faced with this sight?
